Mill Lane Community Garden

The garden was created, and is maintained, by a bunch of dedicated volunteers, who freely donate their time. However, the plants and equipment in the garden require either money or being received as a donation. We are very grateful for all the plants and tools donated by Chinnor residents and businesses; and we like to acknowledge every one on our Thank You page. Alas, some things are just too big and/or expensive for an individual to donate. Which is where the money comes in. We usually have a donations box at any event in the garden and we receive money from grants awarded by a variety of sources. Details of grants received are also on our Thank You page.

However, we have other ways to raise money, all with it costing you a penny.

First, we are part of the Co-op Local Community Fund that enables Co-op members to raise funds for the garden. As a Co-op member, you can make a difference by raising funds for our project every time you shop at a Co-op. Simply select our cause, number 82761, by logging in to your Membership account, or via the Co-op app or by phoning the Membership Support Centre on 0800 0686 727, option 3 The scheme runs until October 2024. In addition to the above, Mill Lane Community Garden could win £5,000 as part of a new membership prize draw – The Winners Share It All. Better still, as a Co-op member you could win £500.

Every month, 10 Co-op Members will win £500 for themselves and £5,000 for their chosen Local Community Fund cause – so the Mill Lane Community Garden could be in with a chance of winning some extra money to help our community.

How are members entered into the prize draw?
Co-op members are entered into the prize draw if they’ve:
• Chosen their Local Community Fund cause
• Spent £5* at their local Co-op or shopped online
• Swiped their membership card

So, assuming you are a Co-op member, every time you spend a minimum of £5 per transaction, each month, you will receive an additional entry into the prize draw, increasing your chance of winning.

How do causes win?
10 causes will win £5,000 every month depending on the choice of the randomly selected winning Co-op members. A local cause can only win once during the promotional period – * please see full Ts & Cs for more details.

How can the winning causes spend their £5,000?
Prize money can be spent on an existing project, currently being supported through the Local Community Fund, or a different project that supports our local community.
